Michelle Volland earned a postdoctoral Masters of Science in Psychopharmacology
from Fairleigh Dickinson, a doctorate in Psychology from Florida Institute
of Technology and a Masters of Social Work from Florida State University.
She is a consultant and instructor for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office
Hostage Negotiator Team and the coordinator of Critical Incident Stress Management
for the City of Jacksonville. Her experience includes individual and group
psychotherapy in outpatient and inpatient settings. She also teaches at the

Les earned Bachelor and Master degrees in Clinical Social Work from Florida
State University (FSU). His professional experience includes individual, group
and family therapy in outpatient and inpatient settings. Les is certified
as a CPR instructor. He worked with the chemical dependency population at
the Sheriff’s Office. He is a designated Faculty Fellow at FSU and has
presented at numerous meetings in the US and Canada.
LCSW (clinical social worker)
Jane earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Connecticut
and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Hawaii. Her professional
experience includes individual, group and family therapy in an outpatient
setting, training the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Hostage Negotiators
Team, and she is a member of the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team.
Athearn earned a B.S. from Ursinus College and Master’s in Counseling
Psychology from UNF. He has conducted individual, family, and group psychotherapy
with all age groups in outpatient, hospital, and residential settings. He
has worked extensively with adjudicated and at-risk adolescents and their
families. Eric is an experienced pediatric and adult ER mental health
evaluator. He has presented research on Psychology and Chronic Pain and MMPI-A
Responses of Adolescent Sex Offenders (SEPA 2007).
Swati Varshney, Ph.D.
Swati Varshney completed her fellowship from the University of Florida College of Medicine at Shands Jacksonville. She received her doctoral degree from the University of North Texas and specializes in Clinical Psychology. She has a special interest in clinical health psychology and providing behavioral medicine services. Her experiences include providing clinical services to culturally diverse patient populations along with individual and group psychotherapy in outpatient and inpatient settings.
